Japan’s JPYC Stablecoin Set for Biggest Enterprise Payment Rollout With ¥1B Investment

Key Highlights

  • AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings is investing ¥1 billion ($6.7 million) in the JPYC yen-backed stablecoin.
  • The Japanese logistics giant will use JPYC to pay nearly 2,300 logistics partners and independent contractors.
  • The ¥1 billion commitment is nearly equivalent to JPYC’s current circulating supply, making it one of the largest enterprise bets on a non-USD stablecoin.

JPYC:- The growth of non-USD stablecoins has been experiencing significant growth recently. While euro-backed stablecoins have grabbed headlines following Europe’s MiCA regulation, a latest development from Japan suggests the trend is spreading across Asia too.

Japanese logistics giant AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings has announced plans to invest ¥1 billion which is around $6.7 million into yen-backed stablecoin JPYC. The company will also be using JPYC to pay nearly 2,300 logistics partners and independent contractors.

What is the New UseCase for JPYC Stablecoin in Japan

Yen-backed JPYC stablecoin is built and issued by JPYC Inc., a Tokyo-based fintech company having Circle and Metaplanet as its backers.

Launched in October 2025, the stablecoin has now become one of Japan’s first Financial Services Agency-compliant yen stablecoins under the country’s revised Payment Services Act. Each JPYC token is backed 1:1 by Japanese yen reserves and government securities and is available across networks including Ethereum, Polygon and Avalanche.

For JPYC, the AZ-COM Maruwa’s investment represents more than another corporate partnership.

According to coinmarketcap, JPYC’s circulating supply is at around ¥1-1.3 billion since its regulated launch. That means AZ-COM Maruwa’s planned ¥1 billion commitment is almost equivalent to the entire existing JPYC ecosystem.

This makes it one of the biggest enterprise bets on a non-dollar stablecoin to date.

The payments will be made across AZ-COM Maruwa’s logistics network, where thousands of subcontractors and delivery partners would receive recurring settlements. This comes as stablecoins can help the company reduce transfer fees. JYPC can shorten settlement times and automate payouts compared to traditional banking rails.

What’s Next For Crypto in Japan

The move comes as Japan is increasingly moving forward with its crypto ambitions. Just last week, the country passed legislation to crack down on crypto insider trading. It also laid the groundwork for a separate crypto tax regime with a proposed 20% flat tax, and opened the door for domestic Bitcoin ETFs.

At the same time, companies like Metaplanet are continuing to expand their Bitcoin treasury strategy. There has been a growth of digital asset treasury companies in  Japan too. Now, another Japanese giant AZ-COM Maruwa accepting JPYC add another step to the Japan’s crypto story.

Unlike previous stablecoin pilots involving fintech firms or crypto companies, AZ-COM Maruwa represents Japan’s traditional economy. It is a logistics company handling thousands of contractor payments with Amazon Japan among its key clients. The decision by the giant to replace conventional bank transfers with a regulated yen stablecoin could provide a blueprint for broader enterprise adoption across manufacturing, retail and supply-chain industries.
