Binance Chain Takes Pole Position in Tokenized US Treasuries

Key Insights:

  • Binance Chain secures a solid lead against the competition as the preferred destination for tokenized US treasuries.
  • Franklin Templeton takes the point as the biggest issuer on the BNB chain.
  • BNB chain completed a quarterly burn, removing 1.62 million coins from circulation.

The BNB chain is currently dominating the treasuries category in the real-world assets (RWAs) segment of the crypto market. The first 6 months of the year were quite eventful. Speculation cooled, and RWAs got a chance to flex their organic growth figures.

A year-to-date assessment of network growth in tokenized US Treasuries, as reported by BSCDaily on X, places the Binance Chain ahead of the competition. Roughly $2.8 billion in US Treasuries have been tokenized on the BNB chain so far.

To put the preference for the Binance chain into perspective, the gap between it and the runner-up (Ethereum) was about $1.3 billion (as shown in the chart shared above).

In other words, the BNB chain has so far capitalized the most on tokenized US Treasuries. A bold statement about access, given that the Binance chain supports one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges.

Franklin Templeton is the Leading Issuer of Tokenized Treasuries

Tokenized treasuries currently represent one of the biggest expressions of how traditional finance has been intertwining with Web3.0. So much so that some of the biggest issuers of tokenized treasuries were TradFi companies.

For example, Franklin Templeton secured the lead with over $1.6 billion. It even outperformed Stablecoin giant Circle, which came in second with $1.5 billion in tokenized treasuries.

WisdomTree and Fidelity were also honorable mentions, although the latter had negative growth YTD. The list of top issuers also had a fair share of crypto companies. However, the emphasis was on TradFi companies leading the charge.

The involvement of firms such as Franklin Templeton is particularly noteworthy. Many of their clients are institutional investors seeking exposure to U.S. Treasuries through tokenized assets.

Institutional demand extends beyond the United States, highlighting the global appeal of tokenized U.S. Treasuries. Despite being a relatively new market, tokenized Treasuries have already recorded strong growth, suggesting there is still significant room for further adoption.

Will Binance Chain Quarterly Burn Favor BNB Crypto Price?

The Binance chain’s growing dominance in the tokenized U.S. Treasuries market has likely strengthened BNB’s market appeal. It has also drawn increased attention from both crypto-native participants and traditional finance (TradFi) analysts.

While the tokenized treasuries underscore positive news for the cryptocurrency, another major development could provide a bigger boost to sentiment. The Binance chain concluded the week by revealing plans for its latest quarterly burn.

The network’s 36th BNB Burn page revealed that it burned around 1.62 million BNB from circulation. That was equivalent to about $925 million at BNB’s price at press time.

The quarterly burn will eliminate about 1.2% of the BNB crypto’s current supply. This burn alone may not necessarily have a major impact on price. However, it could be a stepping stone towards boosting market sentiment.

Perhaps BNB crypto’s latest quarterly burn, combined with improving network performance, could tilt the odds in favor of the bulls, especially if historical post-burn sentiment patterns repeat.

For example, BNB recently lost its grip on price levels above $600, trading at $571 at press time. Its current price was equivalent to a 58% discount from its peak price of $1,370.55 in October last year.

It was worth noting that BNB crypto has been hovering within a historical consolidation zone. However, this does not necessarily guarantee a bullish breakout. The Binance Chain coin still risks more downside if market conditions continue to deteriorate.
