XRP Sinks With Bitcoin Everywhere — Except South Korea

XRP price is lagging Bitcoin and stuck in a falling channel, yet one of its biggest markets is treating it very differently. Korean traders are discounting Bitcoin far more than they are selling XRP.

That split is the story. XRP still moves with Bitcoin day to day, so it needs help from the leader, but the milder Korean selling hints its holders have not given up.

XRP Still Moves With Bitcoin, Just Weaker

Over the past 30 days, XRP and Bitcoin moved almost in lockstep, with a daily-return correlation of 0.88. So talk of XRP breaking away from Bitcoin does not hold. It rises and falls with the leader.

But the difference is strength, not direction. Bitcoin was roughly flat on the month while XRP fell about 5%, so the XRP/BTC ratio slid around 5%. In short, XRP follows Bitcoin down but lifts less on the way up. But that’s the entire global market.

That leaves XRP among the weaker large caps this month, worldwide. Ethereum climbed while XRP slid, so the token is losing ground to its peers, not just the leader.

The One Place XRP Is Holding Up Is Korea

But here comes the twist. Bitcoin’s Korea Premium Index sits near minus 1.18%, meaning BTC trades over 1% cheaper on Korean exchanges.

A discount like that shows local retail is cautious and selling, not chasing. XRP on Upbit, by contrast, trades roughly level with its global price.

That gap matters because Korea is one of XRP’s largest markets. So even as XRP trails globally, Korean holders look far less eager to dump it than Bitcoin, a small but real sign of conviction.

The kimchi premium tracks how far crypto prices on Korean exchanges sit above or below the global average, so a positive reading means Koreans are paying up and a negative one means they are selling at a discount.

Fading Sellers and a Ripple Catalyst

Two things could help XRP from here. First, selling volume has eased this month even as price dipped, which suggests the downside is losing force.

Second, Ripple just joined the Linux Foundation’s x402 group to power AI agent payments on the XRP Ledger with XRP and RLUSD. Agentic payments, where software pays for services on its own, is one of crypto’s hottest themes right now.

However, the tight correlation is the catch. With XRP this glued to Bitcoin, a real recovery likely needs BTC to turn up too, not XRP going it alone. On-chain flows, as of early July, show XRP holder buying is fading, so the bid remains thin.

XRP Price Levels to Watch

For now, XRP price trades near $1.09, pinned inside a falling channel. What happens at the channel’s edge will show whether the steadier Korean bid, the fading sellers, and the x402 catalyst can turn into real demand.

To flip the trend, XRP needs a daily close above $1.11, the channel top and the 0.236 Fibonacci zone. Clearing it would signal buyers are finally winning, opening the path to $1.18 and higher. Given the 0.88 tie to Bitcoin, though, that push likely needs BTC to rise as well.

On the downside, $1.07 is the line. Losing it would mean the Korean support and the Ripple news were not enough, dragging XRP back down with Bitcoin toward $1.04, then the psychological $1.00 mark and a broader breakdown risk below $1. So the $1.16 level separates a genuine recovery from another leg lower.
