Today, Ledger, the world leader in digital asset security for consumers and enterprises, expanded support for Celo, the Ethereum Layer 2 built for the real world with the leading programmable rails for global finance. Following the addition of send, receive, and swap functionality for CELO and Celo-native stablecoins within Ledger Live in December 2025, Ledger has enabled Celo’s unique fee abstraction functionality via CIP-64 support. With this upgrade, all 18 Celo-native assets on Ledger can be used as transaction fees.
CIP-64, a core Celo primitive first introduced with the Gingerbread Hardfork in July 2023, unlocks seamless transaction fee payment with approved ERC-20 tokens.

Fee abstraction is a key Celo benefit designed to increase crypto accessibility for users worldwide. Close to half of all transactions on Celo today are settled using USD-denominated stablecoins rather than the native CELO token. For users of payment applications, this means transacting in familiar terms without needing to think about the underlying gas mechanics.
Now, Ledger’s 8 million global users can transact on Celo with the familiar ease of use pioneered by the network’s architects.
